Social Saturdays Project

Funded by: National Lottery Awards for All and We Love Manchester

North Manchester has some of the lowest educational attainment outcomes in the UK.

The project aimed to develop the social skills, emotional and mental wellbeing of young people by providing support and activities which develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as mature and responsible individuals. The project aimed to support local young people to reach their potential by supporting them at the earliest possible stage.

What We Did

  • Provided social skills training through creative, engaging and interactive activities at the Manchester Youth Zone in Harpurhey in the form of bite size workshops, targeted and focused upon young people across North Manchester

  • Provided training in social skills to approximately 30 young people from different communities

  • Facilitated sport and leisure activities to increase social inclusion

  • Worked with other partner organisations to promote community engagement, social network for effective inclusion and to provide referral services where needed.

  • Provided training on specific theme per month e.g. Communication skills, Good citizenship and Consequential thinking amongst others.

  • Provided digital support (laptops) to young people during the Covid19 pandemic to ensure online connectivity and prevent isolation.
